Gum Disease (periodontal disease) is a bacterial infection, is the leading case of adult tooth loss, and can pose a serious threat to your overall health. If caught early, gum disease can be successfully treated and controlled. If you are diagnosed with only early stages of gum disease, we can control the problem in our office with a deep scaling procedure that removes the under-the-gum deposits and helps restore health to your gum tissue. If you have advanced stages of gum disease, however, Dr. Chabot will refer you to a gum specialist (periodontist) for needed treatment. Some of the warning signs that you may have gum disease are: persistent bad breath, inflamed or sensitive gums, gums that bleed easily when you brush or floss, and loose teeth. If you have experienced any of these symptoms and have not had a cleaning within the last six months, please contact our office as soon as possible for a complete exam appointment.
